Frequently Asked Questions - Pairing and Linking

To assist you as quickly and easily as possible, we have put together a number of questions and answers about how Bluetooth and the Alto Pro Truesonic Wireless speaker work together specifically.

What is the range of the Bluetooth connection?

The Alto Pro Truesonic wireless loudspeakers use an advanced, extended-range Bluetooth antenna design, allowing for far greater than traditional Bluetooth devices. The typical range is between 60 and 80 feet .  This range may vary depending on your source device and the environment.

For example, it should function perfectly in the typical range of 60 - 80 feet as long as the transmitting audio source is not moving around, there are no obstructions between the audio source and the speaker, there is a solid battery charge in your Bluetooth device, and the device is not in a pocket or covered in any way.  The range can be also be affected by the Bluetooth chip-set in the audio source.

The sound is coming out distorted. What should I do?

If the sound from your Alto Pro Wireless speaker is coming out distorted at high and low levels, try lowering the volume control of your sound source - such as your iPod, iPhone, or Android device.
If you continue to experience distortion, contact Alto Professional Technical Support.

I'm only using one speaker. Why can I only hear the left side?

The TS112W and TS115W are designed to playback in mono, even when sending it a stereo audio signal via Bluetooth. Instead of summing, or combining, the two sides of your stereo signal, the speaker will simply default to the left side of the signal. When a second speaker is linked, this will then be sent the right side, giving you a full stereo sound.

If you are only planning on using one speaker at a time, you can configure your device to playback in mono so you can still hear both the left and right sides. Please refer to our guide at the link below on how to best configure your device:

Can I connect two Alto Pro Wireless speakers together?

Yes! We recommend pairing your Bluetooth device to one speaker and then linking the two Alto Pro Wireless speakers.  The Alto Pro Wireless speakers will remember the link settings even after they are powered off. Once linked, when you turn the speakers back on, they will automatically reconnect to each other.

To link two speakers together:

    1. Make sure no audio is playing from your Bluetooth device.  If it is, pause/stop playback and wait 5 seconds.
    2. Press and release the STEREO LINK button on each speaker.
    3. Both STEREO LINK LED's will flash while they are "searching" for one another and you will hear a tone sequence from both speakers.  This process may take up to 60 seconds and the first time you link them it may take up to 3 minutes.
    4. When they are successfully linked, you will hear a final "confirmation tone" from both loudspeakers and the STEREO LINK LEDs will stay continuously lit.

Note: The stereo signal will be split between the two loudspeakers: the master loudspeaker will play the left channel; the slave loudspeaker will play the right channel.

Tip: When using two loudspeakers, we recommend labeling the master loudspeaker so you can distinguish between the two in future setups.

If I connect two Alto Pro Wireless speakers together, how far apart can they be?

The STEREO LINK feature included in the Alto Professional Truesonic Wireless series speaker also utilizes an advanced, extended-range Bluetooth antenna design.  This allows for a far greater distance between the speakers than the standard Bluetooth range.  The typical range of distance between the two speakers is 60 - 80 feet, though the range may be affected by the source device and the environment in the same way as mentioned above.

Can I erase the linking and pairing settings in the Alto Pro Wireless speaker?

Absolutely.  To do so, press and hold either the PAIR button or the STEREO LINK button for 3 seconds.  You will hear a long tone to confirm its pairing and linking settings have have been erased.  The LEDs will also turn off.

We recommend doing this on both the master and the slave loudspeaker.  Now you can pair to a new source device and/or link the loudspeakers again.
