While it is always recommended to work with your Network Administrator to ensure the network connection is set up correctly, this article walks through the basics of setting up an FTP server on a Windows 7 or 8 operating system for use with the Denon Professional DN-700R.

Note: While this document walks through the basic steps to set up an FTP server, we highly recommend working with a professional I.T./Network Administrator to ensure correct network functionality. - Open the Control Panel (Category View) and click on Programs.
- Now click on Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the window that opens, scroll down to find the feature titled Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core and add a check to the box. Do not press OK.
- Now find the feature titled Internet Information Services and expand the selection. An FTP Server option will appear - expand this feature as well. Add a check to the box titled FTP Service.
- Within the expanded Internet Information Services feature, locate Web Management Tools and expand the selection. Add a check to the box titled IIS Management Console.
- Press OK to close the window. You may get a message that the process may take a few minutes. Allow Windows to make the necessary changes.
- When finished, re-open the Control Panel or back up to the main window of the Control Panel. Change the View by: option to Small Icons.
- Click on Administrative Tools.
- In the window that opens, double-click on Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- In the next window that opens under the heading Connections, locate your computer name and expand the selection. Right-click on the Sites option and choose Add FTP Site...
- In the Add FTP Site window, input the FTP site name (this can be any name you choose) and browse or enter the Physical path: to the folder you will be using. Then click Next.
- In the next window titled Binding and SSL Settings, open the drop-down menu under IP Address and choose your IP address. Also, under SSL, click on No SSL. Then choose Next.
- In the next window:
- Under Authentication, choose Basic
- Under Authorization > Allow access to:, choose Specific users. Then input the user name you will be using in the text box below.
- Under Permissions, ensure there is a check in the boxes next to Read and Write
- Then choose Finish
- Close the Internet Information Services (ISS) Manager.
- Finally, you will need to allow FTP through your firewall. If you are using a 3rd party firewall, please contact your network administrator for further assistance.
Go to the main page of your Control Panel and ensure that View by: is set to Small icons. Click on Windows Firewall.
- In the window that opens, choose Allow a program (an app) or feature through Windows Firewall.
- In the next window, if necessary, click on the Change Settings button to allow for changes to take place.
- Scroll down and locate the FTP Server option. Be sure that the box for Private is checked. Then click OK and close all open windows.
Note: If the computer is on a domain and you use a domain user to log into the FTP site, be sure that the Domain box is also checked.
Prior to connecting and testing the DN-700R, the FTP site can be tested directly from any other computer on the same network to ensure that it is set up properly. Todo so:
- Open an internet browser or explorer window on a second computer that is connected to the same network.
- In the address bar, type ftp://###.###.###.### (<- the IP address of the FTP server).
- If everything is set up properly, you will be prompted to enter the User name and Password previously set up. Enter the requested information and choose Log on. You will be able to access the FTP folder.
Note: If you cannot access the FTP site from another computer on the same network after following all of the steps above, please contact your local network administrator.
