Creating an Account

In order to retrieve the Promotional Offer for Reason 10 Lite, you'll need to login into your account. If you have not done so or need a refresher on how to, refer to this guide. Follow the link in your Account (Redeem Now) to the Propellerhead website. As you click that link, make note of the authorization code directly above it.

This 2-part code, separated by a semi-colon will need to be submitted before you are able to download Reason Lite. We'll come back to this later. Click the Get Started button and you will be taken to a new page. If you do not already have a Propellorhead Account, you will need to create one.

Create a unique username. If your choice is already taken, a message will display so. Otherwise, continue creating the account by entering your email, full name, and creating a unique password. Please note, when creating a password, you will not be asked to confirm it by reentry so make sure you type it exactly as you intend it to be. It will need to be entered exactly as created when you go to log into your Propellerhead account when launching Reason 10 Lite.

Downloading Reason Lite

After submitting your account creation, you will be taken to the Product Registration page. Select the Akai Product you purchased, in this case, the MPK Mini mkII. Next, refer to the Authorization code we highlighted earlier in your account. If you look closely, you will see it is 2 codes, separated by a semi-colon.

The first part is your License Code and the Second part is your Registration code. Copy and paste these into the respective fields.

Once entered successfully, you will see the download links for both PC and Mac. Choose the appropriate one for your platform.

Installation & Setup

Retrieve the installer in your downloads folder. Extract the contents and run the executable file. If you are on a Mac, move the Reason 10 Lite folder to your applications folder. Launch Reason 10 Lite. You will be prompted to enter your login credentials.

These are the same as the ones used when you created your account. You may be prompted to update your rack extensions. Once you do that, Reason will begin to scan your plugins folder. This will make all compatible plugins on your computer available for you to use in Reason 10 Lite.

You will be prompted to select an audio output device, audio input device and midi controller. If you have an audio interface, select it accordingly as your output and/or input device. Otherwise, you can select your computer's built in audio device. You can then add your Midi Controller device. You can always do this later if you prefer.

Reason 10 Lite comes with a demo project. When prompted, load this song. It will give you a great idea of what the software can do and brief higlight of the various modules and components.
